The Department of Defence and Strategic Studies is a valuable department of Nowrosjee Wadia College. The department mission and vision is capacity building to younger generation in critical analysis of strategic issues, creating awareness about national security issues and organise a pool of experts on nation wide security.

The department provides access to high quality education concerning Defence and Strategic Studies to the intending students seeking admission at B.A level. The structure of Undergraduate Courses is based and designed on various areas of National Security, Geopolitics and International Relations. The contents have been developed in view of providing necessary knowledge and understanding at the level of education in the discipline concerned. The department has its own library with about 45 books.

Nowrosjee Wadia College is the only college in Pune City to offer this course. Foreign students from South East Asia, West Asia, Africa and erstwhile Soviet Republic come in large numbers to study this subject. Indian students aspiring to appear for UPSC, MPSC, Armed Forces and other Para Military forces are especially interested in this subject.

A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to students at the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies.
