About the Department

Department of Botany started Under-Graduate course in the year 1936. Later in 2011 the department has started offering PG courses with Mycology and Plant Biotechnology as a specialization.

For Under-Graduate courses there are 2 divisions of botany for F. Y. B. Sc. as well as S. Y. B. Sc. For T. Y. B. Sc. course botany department has intake capacity of 24 students. For PG course the department has intake capacity of 24 students for first and second year. The department has 6 teaching faculty members with areas of different specializations.

The department of Botany is well established and renowned institution affiliated with SPPU. In subject botany our department offers various interdisciplinary subjects like Plant taxonomy, Plant ecology, Mycology and Plant pathology, Plant Physiology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology. There is perfect combination of subjects from classical botany and modern botany available with our department. Students from different subjects like B.Sc. Biotechnology and Computer science can do collaborative interdisciplinary and innovative research project for their post graduate project. Courses offered

Department of Botany offers following courses along with its intake capacity, for F.Y.B.Sc there is online admission process being conducted by college. There is no any entrance examination to take admission in first year of UG classes. PG admissions are also given as per merit and existing rules of SPPU and government of Maharashtra. Department do not conduct any entrance examination for admissions to PG class.

    The department of Botany is running many innovative practices for the UG and PG students of the college.

  • Department has a DLP projector for conducting regular practicals, department conducts online tests of UG and PG students for their practice in the examinations like SET and NET.

  • Botany department also organizes 4 to 5 seminars in each academic year for students of UG, PG and junior college from the experts of national institutions like NCL, ARI, BSI, and from SPPU.

  • Department is maintaining and monitoring online attendance of M.Sc. botany students and offers the counselling to the students for career opportunities in different fields of research interests.
