B. Sc. (Cyber Security and Digital Forensics)

Introduction

Nowrosjee Wadia College is introducing a new four-year B.Sc. program in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics starting from the academic year 2024-25. This program, framed in compliance with the National Educational Policy (NEP 2020) and UGC directives, aims to address the growing need for skilled professionals in cyber security and digital forensics. It will be offered under the college's autonomous status and follow the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) introduced by Savitribai Phule Pune University.

The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive education in both foundational and advanced aspects of cyber security and digital forensics, integrating theory with practical laboratory work. The program also includes courses in Mathematics, Electronics, and Statistics, which complement the core subjects.

This program is crucial for developing skills to protect digital assets, investigate cyber crimes, and ensure online system integrity, preparing graduates for careers in sectors like Banking, IT, Government, and Consulting.

Objectives:

  • Provide theoretical and practical knowledge of cyber security and digital forensics.

  • Identify and understand various threats and attacks on digital information systems.

  • Teach methods for collecting, examining, and analyzing digital evidence.

  • Familiarize students with tools, techniques, and models for implementing security measures.

  • Develop skills to create and manage security policies and procedures to minimize risks.

  • Apply appropriate techniques and resources to handle attacks across different sectors.

  • Study the legal frameworks, laws, and regulations related to cyber security and digital forensics.

  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments for organizational information security.

  • Investigate and diagnose cyber security incidents and digital evidence.

  • Use problem-solving principles to analyze data and make decisions in information security contexts.

Eligibility

  • XII th Science or its equivalent examination with Mathematics. All other criteria are same as per Savitribai Phule Pune University rules.

    Field Project: This project is related to the core (Major) subject and is to be offered at the  departmental level during the third semester. The field project is designed by the guide and  students of the specific subject.
    On Job Training* (OJT)  This project is related to the core (Major) subject and is to be offered at the  departmental level during the third semester, whereby the students will work in industries/  NGOs/ heritage centres / government agencies/ or other suitable organizations designated by  the subject teacher / Course co-ordinator/ mentor or Board of Studies, for a period of 120 hours.
    Research Project* (RP)  This project is related to the core (Major) subject and is to be  offered at the departmental level during the third semester. The field project is designed by the  guide and students of the specific subject. Research project is to be completed in any recognized  institute / laboratory / research laboratory/ academic institution for 160 Hours..
    Laboratory: Well equipped Laboratories for Computer science / Electronics / Mathematics with updated hardware and software. Hands-On training on various security, testing and recovery tools.

    • Evaluation Process:

    Semester Pattern of 35+15 Marks: University Exam 35 Marks + Internal 15 Marks (50 M for each Subject)

    Admission Procedure

    • A Student has to obtain/ download the Admission Form in prescribed format from the College website.

    • Students should see the updated merit list on the college website and take admission by paying the fees.

    • The admission will be confirmed after paying the full fees and submission of the required documents.
